Eric The login/password information for Informix is derived from Unix (unlike Oracle or Sybase, for instance). Can you (or your system admin) login as root? If so, he could assign you a new password for user informix. BTW, connecting as informix is not advisable, since he is essentially the "super user" for the database, and your application could execute potentially unsafe SQL like DROP TABLE, etc. Of course you could do this as some other user as well, provided he has DBA rights on the database but you can prevent some users from doing certain things using GRANT and REVOKE. Also I am curious about the message saying that "password is not found in the sqlhosts file" - could you post the exact error message? We can't login into the server or connect to our database etc. I figure that there has to be files somewhere on the computer that would list the login information. It keeps saying that the login information is not found in the sqlhost file etc. All help is appreciated =) Eric ets3@email.byu.edu
