SQLhosts file

How do I modify the sqlhosts file on the UNIX server so that my server will listen for two requests, (ie: seipcpip and setlitcp) at the same time. Thanks!
I believe you have to set each service on a different socket in the /etc/services file. Then you may add both in your sqlhosts file with a different service name. Make sure the services match what are on the clients and don't interfere with anything else. Dirty little secret - no, actually, not dirty at all, but it gets the attention...you simply add a second line to your sqlhosts file for the other connectivity method. se_pip seipcpip machine sqlexec se_tcp setlitcp machine sqlexec For the first entry, se_pip, the fourth argument is the name of an executable (that's the secret). Given that there is no path, it will look for sqlexec in $INFORMIXDIR/lib and execute that. I've had an entry that looks like: se_mon seipcpip machine /home/jleffler/bin/sqlmonitor This runs my monitor program which then, in turn, runs the real sqlexec (yes, it needs an environment variable to control exactly which one, but it defaults sensibly). The other entry, se_tcp, requires an entry for sqlexec (typically 1525/tcp) in /etc/services, and it requires you to run an sqlexecd which is listening to the sqlexec service (that's the default service name). -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
