It sounds as if the shell you use is similar to the C Shell in that if you type "echo $GooglePlex", the C Shell responds "GooglePlex: Undefined variable". You can force the message you got from the Korn Shell by typing "echo ${GooglePlex?}", which yields "ksh: GooglePlex: parameter null or not set". I don't know of a mode in Korn Shell where if you refer to an unset parameter, it will generate that message, but I suspect there might be one, and that you are running foul of it, somehow. You should verify that line 136 of your c4gl script looks similar to: if [ -n "$C4GLFLAGS" ] # Probably your line 136; its my line 128 then set -- $C4GLFLAGS ${@:+"$@"} fi Since I don't know how the mode is being turned on, I can't tell you how to turn it off.
