RE: Why do some oninit process's run as root?

Without knowing more about your system, I'll venture a guess.
You are most likely starting Informix using a script called by the init
process. This will run by default as root. The solution, if you must
have Informix run other than by root, is to write a script that sets all
of your environment variables, and then starts the engine. Then in the
startup scripts call the script like the following:
su informix -c "/usr/local/bin/start_informix.shl"
This should create the processes as user Informix.

Subject: Why do some oninit process's run as root?
Hello all,
Why do some oninit process's run as root?
As everyone know running anything as root is a security issue on
unix
systems.
Is there any way to run all process's as informix?
Thanks in advance
