Dieter, I had this also and it is a recognised bug. The problem is that you are using NIS I think to keep track of users. Unfortunately, they need to be in /etc/passwd and in the same order in /etc/shadow. Also set the passwd and group entries in nsswitch.conf to be compat. It is interesting that a user not in /etc/passwd can run dbaccess ok (at least in my version). It is thought to be fixed in 4.12.UD1 tools. Hope this helps Peter -- Peter K.
