IDS 11.5 NOAGE 1 under Solaris 10 Non Global Zone
Posted in 2009
Hi list, First of all, hello to everybody. This is my first post this users list. I am planing to migrate four IDS servers from GNU/Linux to one Sun big box using Non Global Zones. I have read that in Non Global Zone IDS NOAGE 1 config parameter does not work due to the nature of Solaris containers. If you put NOAGE equal to 1 the engine runs with any problem, but really no aging does not works and online.log will show some errors messages. Any experience with this kind of config? I am so worried about it, because some of my IDS servers are quite loaded (>80% at peak time). Any advice will be welcome. Also, would be nice to know the feedback from other IDS users that recently has migrate from GNU/Linux to Solaris (or other Unix). My problem was: how to dimension the new Sun box. I did not find any recipy about how many SPARC64 VII CPUs I will need to support the same load that support Intel Quad Core CPUs. Cheers, Marc --000e0cd25cea5f1ef104610e035b
