Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Ok - the resident part of the shared memory comprised the header,
bufferpool, Logical log buffer, Physical log buffer and locks.
1 400 000 Kbyte for bufferpool - we have 700 000 buffers and 2k for
each buffer
128 Kbyte for 2 phys buffers
192 Kbyte for 3 logbuffs
44 000 Kbyte for Locks - (we have 1 000 000 locks and i read in the
manual that a
lock hase 44 byte )
1 444 320 Kbyte is the result
The output from onstat -g seg is : 1 575 936 KByte
What's about the rest ?
Is 131 616 Kbyte for the Header ?????
Which IDS version?
Under 10 a lock is larger.
- Save a copy of your ONCONFIG file somewhere
- Login as informix
- point to the instance
- Use onmonitor -> Parameters -> Shared Memory
- Change the size of the parameters and see how the resident shared
memory size changes in the bottom left of the screen.
