No, that would make it a flex-fuel database. A hybrid runs on both gas and stored battery power. This must mean that DB2 9 runs on battery power when it's idling. Interesting Faux-fact: Baldwin Locomotive works produced an experimental hybrid engine in 1893. It would run on coal fired steam until it arrived at a station, when it would idle on giant rubber bands. The experiment went rather badly wrong when the rubber band melted. --EEM > > -----Original Message----- > From: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:informix-list- > bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Double Echo > Sent: Thursday, June 15, 2006 9:34 AM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: More news from IBM: DB2 re-emerges as a hybrid server > > François Dénommée wrote: > > Read in the last current issue of DataTrends: > > > > "* DB2 re-emerges as a hybrid server > > By Kathleen Richards > > > > IBM's 5-year development of the DB2 9 data server may offer technology > > that was worth the wait.
