Blob Error
Posted in 1998
Some of our informix servers have gotten an error in blob space. The error
seems to be that the pointer to the blob, that resides in the table is
corrupted and no access (via sql statement or backup) to that row is allowed.
When I run oncheck on the blobspace in question I get something like the
following.
bfbcheck: bad blob page:bpg_stamp 1a328e3c != BPG_STAMP2 0 blob
page header.
This occured last week after I transfer some rows that including blobs from one
table on a database another table in a new database. The method I used was a
stored procedure that copied one row at a time and commited after each row,
with no errors occuring. The error was noticed when I tried to access the data
from the new table.
When we have this problem in the past I have called Informix support and they
dial
in and null out the pointer, and then the blob is rescanned into the system.
This will eventually be a problem, because we will not have the original
hardcopy of the image that was lost on hand.
Our system run informix 7.20 UC2 on a SunSparc 20 Server running 2.5.1 using a
Sun Storage array running Veritas using Raid-5. The error has only occured on
our database servers that use the Storage Arrays.
If anyone has any info on this problem, I would appreciate the help.
Thanks, Joe
