JDBC is as "native" as you can get it with Java. How "native" it is depends on the implementation. You should however immediately forget the word "native" in connection with database access software, JDBC, ODBC or proprietary drivers. What have usually been called "native" drivers are realy proprietary drivers and they are sometimes faster but often slower than standard drivers and have the obvious disadvantage of beeing usable with one database only (or one companies databases). We are in the process of testing JDBC drivers, but have no results yet. For a list of some suppliers and some explanations about JDBC you might want to check out http://oberon.ark.com/~roedy/jdbc.html :I have VB, C++, unix, SQL and CGI/WIN and some Java expertise but I am :very new to informix. What are some good drivers" If you have Informix 7.2 or later i think Informix CLI, which is an ODBC driver from Informix, is included. This works, but is hard to install and have glaring security wholes - glaring. The best alternative is the OpenLink drivers. They are easy to install and have solved the security issues as far as it's possible within the sharp limitations set by Microsoft and their complete lack of understanding of security issues. OpenLink also have JDBC drivers.
