Case-insensitive search solution wanted
Posted in 1994
System: SCO Unix r 3.2v4.1 RDS : 4.10.UC2 SE : 4.10.UD2 For a client i need a way to perform a case-insensitive search on fields containing name, address, district and city names. i hoped that something like WHERE UPSHIFT(name) MATCHES "SMITH*" would do the job, but it didn't. Is this possible in later releases of RDS/SE? I know that WHERE name MATCHES "[Ss][Mm][Ii][Tt][Hh]*" works but performance is dreadfully slow on large tables. Any ideas?
