Re: HDR on Informix
Posted in 2005
Here are simple steps for implementing an HDR.
1. Create a secondary instance that is identicle to the primary
instance(your main instance)
A. Please please make sure that the SERVERNUM for the secondary is
different from the primary.
B. Informix recomends that the two servers have same hardware
configuration and parameters setting.
2. Perform archive level zero on primary server, then use the archive to
do physical restore (ontape -p) onto the secondary server. Reminded
that the database will be in fast recovery mode until you turn
initialize HDR and all logical logs in sync.
3. Turn on HDR on primary.
A. onmode -d primary secondary_tcp. "Secondary_tcp" is your
secondary server to which you primary is replicating the database.
4. Turn on HDR on the secondary.
A. onmode -d secondary primary_tcp. "primary_tcp" is your main
database server from which your secondary database is replicating the
database.
CAUTION: Primary sever will experience abnormally long check point when
it syncs the last logical log.
Good luck,
James
