Re: inetd keepalive problem
Posted in 1998
Greetings! Graham: Are you looking for these parameters ? TCP_KEEPCNT: This parameter defines the number of times a keepalive probe should be sent on an idle tcp connection. This can be very useful when a user powers off their client or host, and you want to recognize that they have gone away. TCP_KEEPINT: This parameter defines the number of seconds between successive keepalive probes. If you have users who do not log off their server and leave process running, this parameter can be used to end the processes. -Anil Graham Mitchell wrote: > Hi, > > ( HP9000 K-Series hp-ux 10.20 IDS 7.23UD3 ) > > I am unable to resolve this pain in the neck problem. > has anyone solved this before ? > > We have client PCs logging into the database server > using a client/server application. > Sometimes, the users switch the PC off and go home and not > close the application correctly > This leaves an active thread on the engine with no TTY port > which will not die ! > > I know this has something to do with a 'keepalive' > parameter on the inetd daemon.
