The cost was _much_, _much_ lower when we suggested the correct index. However this is something I would hesitate to use in a production environment. The patches were for HP-UX, not Informix. AFAIK there exist some patch versions of 7.30.UC3, but they are certainly not accessible from Informix's web site. You'll have to talk to your support engineer. Also, I don't think these patch versions have gone through Q&A, so you will have to think twice before using them. The patches for HP-UX were crucial, BTW.
