IDS - Personal Edition - HELP!

Hello, I don't know why I'm doin' it but I've decided to install Informix Dynamic Server Personal Edition on my Pentium 266 with 128MB of memory. It has plenty of disk space. This is a Windows NT installation, BTW. My real production environment runs on a Enterprise 450 running Solaris at work, but for my personal use so that I can learn some more SQL, I've decided to install this product. The strange this is, when it get's to the part of the installation where the system initializes itself, it hangs and doesn't do anything. I've let it sit there for an hour and a half thinking it was just slow, but no luck. Anybody had this problem? Help of any kind would be greatly appreciated. Scott Richardson
The system is trying to initialize the database. There are a number of scripts
that need to run. Take a look at the task manager to make sure it is actually
dead - you can also look at the log file generated in the /etc directory (I
believe - look for file creation dates).
If you'd like you can skip the database creation step, and do it manually later
(edit onconfig, oninit -i, onspaces). This can be a pain unless you know
something about Informix admin already. Keep in mind that NT uses "cooked"
disks, so you will need to make a directory, etc.
