Yes, multiple oninit processes is perfectly normal. I hope, though,
that you are not running oninit -i each time you bring up Informix.
That command initialized the rootdb space and will trash all of your
data. Just run oninit with no arguments to go all the way to ONLINE
mode or 'oninit -s' to stop in QUIESCENT mode from whence you can go
ONLINE using the 'onmode -m' command.
