I am not a cobol expert but have run into them before. I have usually had the programmer unpack the fields - but p-loader allows you to deal with them fine. You can even unload data from an informix database into a cobol output file with packed fields. Let me know how it goes - (e-mail is perferred as I don't get here too often). James Saville
