-408 error in with i-star

Dear All, CAn anyone tell me why I get a -408 error when I do a close database? This is after opening another machines database. All access to that database works ok but when I close it so I can open it I get the -408 error. Also my program then crashes with no error message at all the next time I try to access any database. This is version 5 of online and istar running on SCO. Thanks. Jason
