SQLTrace questions ?

Hi, I'm using the SQLTrace tool. I have some technical questions : 1/ Why the maximum size buffer trace is 100 Kb ? I don't understand the reasons of this limit. 2/ The theoric maximum trace number can be 2 147 483 647. But how to compute the real maximum trace number for his Informix server and his computer ? Indeed, I have the message "cannot enable/resize SQL History tracing", but my parameters are : - trace number = 10 000 - size buffer trace = 2 kb -- Franck Thomas ConsultiX franck.thomas@consult-ix.fr Téléphone : 33 (0) 1 39 12 18 00 Mobile : 33 (0) 6 78 81 09 33 Fax : 33 (0) 1 39 12 18 18

This can become more difficult to explain if you're using DRDA where apparently we can have bigger SQL statements. > > 2/ The theoric maximum trace number can be 2 147 483 647. > But how to compute the real maximum trace number for his Informix server > and his computer ? > Indeed, I have the message "cannot enable/resize SQL History tracing", > but my parameters are : > - trace number = 10 000 > - size buffer trace = 2 kb > I suppose you see that message in OAT. Please check the online.log message when that happens. I could reproduce that by limiting the SHMTOTAL. So I prevented the server of allocating the required memory to comply with my SQLTRACE dimension request...
