Trade journal(s) indicate Netscape will provide the required tools for about $699 on Wintel platforms (Windoze/Intel) and a few hundred more for Unix. This will be very complete, with HTML editing, Java, scripting language, stand-alone Informix SE, and all the goodies for connecting to other RDBMS systems. The Informix web page advertises a couple free add-ons for using ESQL/C and 4GL with the Web via cgi-bin. If Unix, I would just write a cgi-bin to query Informix via db-access script. Cgi-bins can get pretty fancy, especially if you use Expect (free from NIST). Expect lets you automate character-based programs such as db-access, ftp, telnet or whatever *MUCH* better than /bin/sh. If NT, same idea, but the cgi-bin would probably by Visual C++/Basic. -- ============================================================================== Phil Perucci ......... pperucci@access.digex.net ........
