Re: Access to Oracle and Informix DB

This is a multipart message in MIME format. --=_alternative 005CF19285256D44_= Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" My Oracle experience is quite outdated but if memory serves right, they uses radically different methods from those of Informix ESQL-C. I wouldn't go there (beating your head against the wall to see if it hurts!).... I'd write separate C programs for each DBMS, cleverly interfacing them via temp (flat) files (used to store temp data, and/or command parameters for the "other" program) and either embedded shell commands or independent shell scripts, or both. It'd probably be a good idea to have a "master" C program (nothing but a traffic cop) that calls the C-Informix or C-Oracle programs as needed. Good luck! --John 202-502-2599 (or x 2599) "Rich Campbell" <rich.campbell@att.com> Sent by: owner-informix-list@iiug.org 06/13/2003 11:56 AM Please respond to "Rich Campbell" To: informix-list@iiug.org cc: Subject: Access to Oracle and Informix DB Folks, Any experience out there trying to connect to an Oracle DB and Infomix DB withing the same C, C++ program.
