The poster wanted to copy data from SQL Server 2008 on Windows into an Informix database on HP-UX and asked how. Suggestions offered: use FreeTDS plus sqsh to talk to SQL Server from Unix; install ODBC on HP-UX and drive both databases from a Perl/PHP/Python script (with IBM's own Informix ODBC driver suggested as a free alternative to DataDirect); or write a Java program using Microsoft's JDBC driver for SQL Server (or a JDBC-ODBC bridge) to connect to both servers and move the data. The poster never reported which approach he chose, so no confirmed resolution is recorded.

Hi,
I need to read several tables in a database Informix in Unix (HP-UX)
from SQL Server 2008
It means:
Source : SQL Server 2008 (Windows)
Target : Informix in Unix
Is there some way of doing this ?
Thanks in advance for any clues that you could provide me
Best regards

Google freetds and sqsh
You could install ODBC on HP-UX and then use Perl/PHP/Phython to connect to both databases at once and copy the data as needed.

What products ODBC for HP-UX do you recommend ?
I know the DataDirect, is there another option ?

What's wrong with IBM Informix's driver? The price is certainly
unbeatable. :o)

You have a couple of ways of doing this.
The easiest would probably do this all in java and use Microsoft's JDBC Driver for SQLServer...

I think Sun er Oracle has a jdbc-odbc bridge that would also work too.
Then it doesn't matter where you run your app you just connect to both servers and move the data.
