We are running 7.31.UD3 on Solaris 9 with 4 Dual core cpu's
16 on-line since 09/28/2006 06:57:38
17 on-line since 09/28/2006 06:57:44
18 on-line since 09/28/2006 06:57:44
19 on-line since 09/28/2006 06:57:44
528 on-line since 09/28/2006 06:57:44
529 on-line since 09/28/2006 06:57:44
530 on-line since 09/28/2006 06:57:44
531 on-line since 09/28/2006 06:57:44
We have affinity set as
AFF_SPROC 17 # Affinity start processor
AFF_NPROCS 7 # Affinity number of processors
When we initialise the database we get
"VPCLASS 'cpu' not enough physical procs for affinity" in the online
log.
Any ideas how we can get around this?

Well, it looks like at the time that code was written to set up
processor affinity for that version there was a lower limit on the
processor ids. For 7.31.UD3 it appears we stop looking for processors
above ids of 256. So a way for you to work around this would be if
possible to get your 2nd set of processor ids (starting at 528-531)
and get those id's to something below 256.

What do you mean to achieve by AFF_SPROC 17 ? With AFF_NPROCS 7 you'd need 25 cpus in your machine.
Did you mean AFF_SPROC 1 rather?

In his case CPU #16 is the first CPU on the machine and they have 8 numbered 16-19 and 528-531. Art S. Kagel
