What is a "query"???

What does these queries do?
On a single processor 300 MHz Intel Pentium machine with SCO Unix and
IDS ver. 7.22 UC2 i did queries like this:
select integer1, integer2 from table where integerprimarykey = 2000;
where the 2000 whas different values repeated for every 300 selects.
I created 13500 of these in a file and executed that in dbaccess with
output to a file. The result was about 400 queries per second. (34
seconds for the 13500 select statements.)
Executing through a programming language where the select could have
been prepared first and then executed repetadly whould probably have
been faster.
If your selects are not significantly more complex something must be
wrong. Of course if the where clause doesn't include the primary key
you may easily get any kind of results.
Do you actually need to execute so many queries? Couldn't it be done
via some kind of join or whatever?

Noone can say unless we see the actual code that is executed.
