Re: FW: change logging

In order for you to turn off the logging, there can be no users can be
active in the system.
Normally, the following command should work (note that i removed the '-s -L
0'):
ontape -N DBNAME
If the above doesn't work, and if you are allowed to and want to bounce the
database, then you might want to try to find the culprit with something
like the following:
1. onmode -sy
2. onstat -
3. <if not in quiescent mode, ....>
onstat -g ses <kill one session at a time where the PID != 0 by issuing 'onmode -z
SID' -- the sid is under the 'session id' column>
<if all the sessions are gone and you are still not in quiescent mode,
you can force a shutdown with 'onmode -yuk' and then bring up the engine in
quiescent mode with 'oninit -s', because it is most likely a bug or special
feature>
4. ontape -N DBNAME
5. onmode -m
Remember to do a level-0 backup after you turn logging back on... See
Chapter 17 (or somewhere thereabouts in the Informix Manual) "Managing
Database-Logging Status" for precautions and warnings you should observe.
Good luck

Onderwerp: change logging
Hello list.
Online 7.20 UC2
I want to change the logging status to NOLOG so I do:
ontape -s -L 0 -N mydbs
I got a message that logging status cannot be changed.
When I do
onstat -g sql
it doesnot show anything
When I do
omode -k
it show 0 userthreads.
So what could be the reason?
Looking up the database in sysmaster , sysdatabases I see;
is_logging 1
is_buff_log 1
is_ansi 0
is_nls 1
flags 19
so buffered and unbuffered logging at the same time?
What does this flags mean because the only thing I could find is that it
has
something to do with logging.
Can anybody help or just give some more information ?
Thanks
Henk
