Hi.
I hace a problem trying to initialize the rootdbs in the creation of a
new instance. I type:
informix@BO:/informix/sq/dev$ /informix/bin/onspaces -c -d rootdbs -p
s1_rootdbs -o 0 -s 2097151
And appears the error:
shared memory not initialized for INFORMIXSERVER 's1'
-Does anybody know which is the problem? Is it a problem of any
variable on the onconfig file? Y installed Informix on a new machine
and it is the first instance I try to create so it is possible that
there's something missing.

I don't know which operating system but on Solaris, it is necessary to do oninit -i to initialize the new rootdbs. (I dont' believe onspaces will run while the instance is down.) The root path and offset are defined in the onconfig. Environment variables must be set correctly as well or you could initialize the wrong thing...
