Is there a level 4 JDBC driver for informix? I've searched for two days now and I can't turn up anything. How can Informix claim they are "fully supporting java", yet have no level 4 driver? It's great that I can include their native libraries and use the level 2 driver; but their native libraries and SetNet32 are disasters. Were is informix on this one, I can't think of any other database without a level 4 driver. We're going to try openlink's level 3 driver. Which is great, I'm sure it will work I've read plenty of good things about it. But we're probably going to be throwing our $5000 Informix database in the trashcan; we really can't develop under these conditions; we don't want yet another tier in our setup. Especially if we're deploying at customers sites. I realize this is the Informix newsgroup; I'm hoping somebody will step forward and convince me that Informix is even worth not throwing in the trash. We're starting development on a new project, and there are informix licenses which are no longer being used. It seemed logical to use informix since we already owned it. But it just seems like one of those pieces of software the company abandoned. The windows 95 admin utilties are terrible. It took an hour with tech support tracking down a wierd authentication bug for them to finally tell me to nuke the server setup and reinstall it. After which half the admin programs wouldn't connect, and required modifying the unix and the client setup; which all default to different protocols. It just seems so hacked together, and with no level 4 support I think we can find some other database for our data. We've also got MS-SQL; even though MS-SQL IMHO sucks; atleast we can write code that can connect to it. CC replys via email please; -Joe
