weblogic to informix database query(urgent)

HI All
need some urgent help regarding this issue.
our application on weblogic which connects to informix database(IDS9.3).
When we execute a joined read query from the dbaccess it runs in 100ms. but
the same query takes around 10sec to run from the application end through
weblogic connection.
Please let me know if anybody has any ideas on this.
regards

Sounds as if there are problems connecting to the database server from
the machine where WebLogic runs. Work out how long it takes to
connect from the WebLogic machine - using the same user name as the
WebLogic application uses. If there's still a discrepancy, the next
issue is whether WebLogic is using ESQL/C (which is what underlies
DB-Access), or whether it is using ODBC or JDBC or some other
connectivity library. If it is using ESQL/C, then you might have a
case for contacting IBM Informix Tech Support. If it is using JDBC or
ODBC or something, then you need to write your own application that
does the connection using the same libraries and see how long that
takes.
My suspicion, in case you hadn't guessed, is that the problem is
outside the direct control of IDS.

I assume that you code the query in a Statement or PreparedStatement object.
So you shuld have a Connection to the database.
If yu work in weblogic I assume that you use connection pooling.
If it was me I take the folowing aproach:
1 - Test the query in dbaccess : You allready made this
2 - Create a very simple sdtandalone java program that connects directly
to the database in JDBC and count the time that it takes
2.1 - If it is also slow use the trace mechanism of jdbc in debug.
Stay here until it works fast.
3 - If it works well go to the application server and put logging to
understand if the time is in :
3.1 - Executing the query (where you have allready a Connection object)
If slow in executing the query you should check if you have just
that query and no locks of people over the information you are
using. If this is the case you propbably should change the
isolation level. Uf not I dont know : ask to IBM or BEA :-)
3.2 - Obtaining the connection from datasource or getting something
from JNDI: You need help probably in setting the connection pool
configuration on the application server.
I hope have helped.
