You don't mention whether or not you are talking about Informix mirroring (pre DSA releases) or operating system level mirroring. If the operating system is doing the mirroring, it actually speeds up the backups, because reads can occur off either the primary or mirror drive. As a side note, I believe that when backups are occuring in a blob space, all modifications to those blobs are halted until the blobspace is completely archived. For this reason, we do not place our (text) blobs in blobspaces. Please tell us a little more about your hardware and software versions.
