Export Informix 2.10 Tables

I am attempting to export tables from Informix 2.10, when I run a
simple sql ie:
output to filename.txt
select *
from tablename
the data outputs 1 field per line, is there a way to output 1 record
per line?
Thanks, a new user having to use some very old software

Hi!
You should be able to use unload to "myfile.unl" select * from mytable;
The format is one line per row, delimited by "|".
HTH.

Still using 2.10 (and the newer stuff too).

Hi,
if your source-maschine has the same byte order as your destination
one and you use SE you can do:
1) bcheck on the old data und make it OK
2) make a dbschema of the old db
3) create via this the new db, let the tables empty
4) copy just the old tables (*.idx/*.dat) to the new db-directory
5) normaly the tablenames are a litle different in the numberpart of
its name, so it must be renamed.
6) bcheck on the new db
7) update statistics on then new db
8) READY
We did this with a very big old 2.1 db to 7.23 from SIEMENS(MX300 NSC)
to PIII under Unixware. And now over 4 weeks it works without any
trouble.
If you want the c-script for doing step 4+5 email me.
