String-manipulating

Suppose You have a char field containing strings of the format <prefix><middlefix><suffix> where the prefix and suffix can be anything and with any length. OK, now You know the middlefix to be exactly "TLLCC" and You want it, badly, to be "TLC", what do You do ??
