Tom, We had this discussion in the c.d.i forum a while back, but the discussion died off. I agree with you for the most part. As radical as I get, I hadn't suggested the "give-away" idea, but it does sound like a good idea. Last week I downloaded the Personal ORacle Geewiz Objects 2000 for Windows NT, and I like it, even though the data base vendor makes me cringe. The interface looks like a grown-up Access. It would be refreshing to see INFORMIX reach out to their community a bit with some products in the same manner as Oracle. Yes, if it's good you don't need to give it away. But a little end-user interference--er I mean input could help to make it a better product. ( The install was of course seamless. ) What goes around comes around, right?
