ODBC on IDS 9.40 FC9

Hello. We just made a to much time relegated upgrade from IDS 9.40 FC2 to FC9. It seems working normal, except for some users complaining they can't connect their applications using ODBC. Do you know about some inconvenience using ODBC and FC9 or some configuration to be adapted on IDS to work with ODBC. thanks in advance. --Nestor
Hi,
the check on language settings (CLIENT_LOCALE, DB_LOCALE) is more strict in
IDS9.40FC9 (I think it started with FC7).
If DB_LOCALE doesn't match the server setting the connection is refused.
Example:
If you run IDS on a UNIX box, the DB_LOCALE will probably be ISO 8859-1
(default). With older IDS version a (windows) client with
CLIENT_LOCALE=de_DE.1252 , DB_LOCALE=de_DE.1252 could connect to the server. With IDS9.40FC9 that connection is not allowed.
The client must set DB_LOCALE to the correct value (en_us.819 for ISO 8859-1).
If you are using special characters you have to check if they are on the same
place (value) in the client (windows codepage) and server (iso codepage),
otherwise NOW a conversion will take place which wasn't done before.
