Strange onmonitor behavior

Running Informix 7.22UC2 on AIX 4.2 Partitioned the disks, created the lv's & instance. If user=informix tries to use 'onmonitor' to do anything to the db, you get this message: ============================================================= STATUS: Profile Userthreads Spaces Databases Logs Archive ... Display system profile information. ** WARNING: Network Down **--Quiescent------- Press CTRL-W for Help. -------- ============================================================= If I try it as user=root, onmonitor gives me this: ============================================================= INFORMIX-OnLine: Status Parameters Dbspaces Mode Force-Ckpt ... Status menu to view INFORMIX-OnLine. -----------------------------Quiescent------- Press CTRL-W for Help. -------- ============================================================= I can do lots of things as root, but all other id's give me the 'Network Down' message. It sounds like a file permission problem, but I can't figure out where else to look. I have checked things like /etc/services, and the informix config & sqlhosts. Permissions there look OK.
