Reverse Video in 4GL Forms

I have been trying to figure out a way to display the field names in a 4GL form in reverse video. E.g. CUSTOMER NO: I realize that the entered data can be reversed with the REVERSE keyword. I have tried entering the terminal dependent key sequence prior to the text but my terminals use an ESC [ which gives the form compiler fits. I have tried patching the .frm file which has generated amusing but incorrect results. Has anyone done this successfully?
