Hi all,
I am trying to change a couple of tables's lock mode from Page to Row by using
the following statment:
alter table hy_client lock mode (row);
Is there anything i have to watch out by using this statment??, Shutdown &
Restart?? or how can I ensure no user is using that table??
Thanks
Franklin
Franklin The session will attempt to get exclusive access to the table while performing this command, if it can not then the command will simply fail. Try it a few times in rapid succession to see if you can get the required access (the actual command will take less than a second to run). If you can not get hold of the table you will have to wait until the users have all released it/logged out. The engine does not need to be shutdown for this to take effect, however you may need to increase the number of locks available especially if the row size is very much smaller than page size and many rows are locked at once by the application.
