Peter, Here at NEC Information Systems Australia we are running SCO ODT 1.0 (UNIX System V 3.2 with X 11 R3) OnLine I-4GL I-RDS We experienced the problem you describe in mid 1990 when we were using version 4.00.UC1 of the 4GL. We reported it to Informix and were upgraded to UE3. I have tested your example with 4.00.UE3 and 4.00.UG1A4 then cross checked against two releases of OnLine and could not get the problem to re-occur. I suggest that if you have a maintenance agreement with Informix that you request a maintenance upgrade as it does appear that the problem has been fixed.
