We are installing a Sun Sparcenter 2000 utilizing the 30 GB Disk
"SPARCStorage Array" (30 1GB Disks) in addition to 40GB of additional
SCSI disks and are wondering the following:
1) Has anyone implemented the "SPARCStorage Array" with their
databases yet?
2) Are you using the SUN "Volume Manager" to manage the disk array?
By this I mean, make a virtual large disk from two smaller disks.
Yes, I know I can't go past the 2 GB chunk limit or to make a virtual
chunk (partition) striped across several disks.
3) Have there been any caveat's to using striping or mirroring with
this configuration. Yes, I am well aware to:
a) not mirror to same disk.
b) use different controllers when possible to even out the load.
SYSTEM NOTES:
------------
1) Sparcenter 2000, Solaris 2.4
2) Sparcstorage Array (30GB)
3) Informix On-Line 7.1
4) Available Disks Space - 70 GB
5) Database Disk Space - 50GB
Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance.
