Delete fails and oncheck does not help.

Hi all. I tried to delete bunch of rows from table. This is what I received in online.log: 04:00:47 Assert Failed: Fragid 0x500002, Rowid 0x2ba4b002 not foundfor delete in partnum 600009 04:00:47 Informix Dynamic Server 2000 Version 9.21.HC4 04:00:47 Who: Session(1042796, cortex@smart, 14976, -1215118544) Thread(1048556, sqlexec, b79140ec, 1) File: exfmsupp.c Line: 853 04:00:47 Results: Delete failed 04:00:47 Action: Run 'oncheck -cI cortex:"cortex".tlog#tlog_acbalref' ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, I concluded that something is wrong with index. Droping/creating it would take about 7 hours - I would be VERY happy if I could get a faster solution. Oncheck did not help: oncheck -cI cortex:tlog#tlog_acbalref Validating index tlog_acbalref for cortex:cortex.tlog... Index tlog_acbalref Index fragment in DBspace tlogidx ERROR:No btree item exists for data row. Fragid 0x500002 Rowid 0x2ba4b001 contains key value: Key: "":" ":37435: Please Drop and ReCreate Index tlog_acbalref for cortex:cortex.tlog. Does it mean that I have only one way - drop/create index? Looks like that's about it. Run a google search on the newsgroup to see what ways are available to speed up index builds. What version are you running?

Din, I have recently gone through a similar scenario. There is nothing you can do but rebuild the index. However there are tuning tricks and things you can do to speed this process up. I have a table with over 400 million rows in it and I can get the index to build in about 2 hours. (except that I have six indexes on it and add constraints to that and dostats and we are down for about 24 hours). It also depends on the hardware of your machine.
