Re: 9.40.XC8
Posted in 2006
Users complained that IDS 9.40.XC8, though declared generally available in early March 2006, did not appear in their IBM Passport Advantage download list. One poster said it was there for him, listed under "DB2 Data Management software," and suggested checking entitlement. Another eventually saw it appear weeks later, after eCare/support had wrongly told him it wasn't available and closed his PMR. The thread is largely a gripe about PPA/eCare inconsistency; the only advice is to keep chasing support until the download shows up, with no real fix recorded.

Not wanting to put down PPA as lots of IBM people have been very helpful getting PPA to work for my company. Interesting someone got it early march, it certainly only showed up this Sunday morning for me and means PPA downloads is a lot more specific than IBM releases a product, it's there for everyone. I have it now, and as such would say... if release notes show it and you don't have it in downloads section of PPA, call Ecare for a date until you get it and don't give up hope ever. As it seems there is a lot of internal miscommunication within IBM in this engineering - release - web - PPA area or thats what my experience shows me.

Gosh! that's a great idea. I've previously been using Ouija to try and get in touch with the dead, and it's becoming a bit samey ....

Like reporting a broken link on the IBM website ...

OK, perhaps my post needed more balls, more emphasis on the "don't give up banging your head etc..." rather than state the bleeding obvious. Not into being negative also first post this side of the blue fence, I don't dare to even get started having a go at the PPA system which is a nice idea, shame it involves people / process ... grumble over. Didn't really get a NO from ecare, does a ouija work on the brain dead? And of course a typo as well so the blame lies with a non-existant team - I got this dated 7th April 06: "We have been advised from our suuport team that Informix dynamic server 9.40 FC8 is not available from IBM " . . ACTION PLAN: closing PMR :) Captain Pedantic wrote: > "Obnoxio The Clown" <obnoxio@serendipita.com> wrote in message > news:mailman.296.1144668541.18205.informix-list@iiug.org... > > > > Captain Pedantic said: > >> "PeterP" <peterpain@gmail.com> wrote in message > >> news:1144639347.715200.283000@i40g2000cwc.googlegroups.com... > >> > >>> I have it now, and as such would say... if release notes show it and > >>> you don't have it in downloads section of PPA, call Ecare ... > >> > >> Gosh! that's a great idea.
