Double time for dbimport with IDS 10 visavi 9.40

I have an odd situation, 2 old Solaris boxes with Soris 8 and 9 and IDS 9.40. rather weak hw compared to what you can buy today, a 22 GB database takes 4 hours to import on them, on a new fully equipped Sun Netra T200 with a similar diskstorage but better disks and with Solaris 10 + IDS10-UC6 it takes 8 hours at best Tried to tune a little bit and now the long blocking checpoints are gone, but still around 8 hours. Any ideas ? Regards Maria
Monitor the OS. What is limiting the throughput on the Solaris 10
server?
Have you configured the instance for a load? How many Buffers, how much
memory on each? How often are the checkpoints and how long do they
take? Are all the dbspaces raw?

Better disks configured how? Are you using RAW disk devices, COOKED devices, or COOKED filesystem files for chunks? Is the disk farm configured as singleton spindles? RAID5? RAID0? RAID1? RAID10? How does this configuration differ from the original one? Art S. Better disks, raw device instead of cooked files, everything should be better.
But the opposite instead. However I've installed IDS 9.40 instead and same
result there so I believe it is something with the OS installation /firmware.
No indication of any bottlenecks in I/O , CPU or memory.
Likely the server will be reinstalled and checked by the nw vendor to see if
they can find anything.
Thanks
Maria
