Access to UNIX environment variables in ISQL

I'd like to be able to access LOGNAME from ISQL and do not know how I can do this simply. Is there a way? (I'm running Informix under SCO 3.2) I'd really like to put the user's name in a table and I can do this from ESQL if necessary but i'd prefer some simple way. Any pointers? Kate
