Re: commas in money field

DBFORMAT is documented in the Informix Guide to SQL books in version 4 & 5; it is not documented there in version 6 and above. The reason for this is that the environment variable is not (and never has been) used by ESQL/C or the Servers; it is only used by ISQL and I4GL. The ISQL and I4GL products still support it, and their documentation still documents it. The new ESQL/C code has superior facilities using NLS or GLS to control the formatting of currencies, etc. At least, in theory -- the only money formatting code I am aware of is the rfmtdec(), rfmtlong(), rfmtdouble() functions which use USING-style masks to print values and which can, therefore, be persuaded to print money quantities. I do not know of a documented function that simply uses the locale information to print monetary quantities in the correct format by default.
