Upgrading from 5.05 to 7.x

We wish to upgrade our HP9000/I50 single cpu to an I70 dual cpu and would also like to upgrade Informix from 5.05 to 7.x. Would we see any performance benefit or loss doing this.....your comments would be greatly appreciated.
