You don't say how large your database(s) is (are) -- this makes a big
difference
in the choice of data migration methods. I've done a few 5.x -> 7.x
conversions
where we dbexport'ed from 5 and then dbimport'ed to 7. In some case the
export
was to disk, in other cases to tape. In some cases we tweaked the SQL
schema
created by dbexport to resize table extents, place tables in differenet
dbspaces,
etc. On some recent exports/imports from 7 to 7, we have also rearranged
things
so that table indexes get created AFTER all of the data is loaded, rather
than
as the data is loaded. This can make a BIG time difference on larger
databases.
Please e-mail me if you're interested in more detailed assistance.
