Its hard to say. If you mean, is is possible to issue a discrete series of
SQL selects and determine the schema, ignoring the annoying dbschema habit
of not telling you about certain system tables and tables you don't have read
permission on? Well, that's a "Yes," too.
I've got an in-house dbschema ( c. 1000 lines of 4gl ) that is accurate in
most cases and faster by an order of magnitude than the factory one, and will
be releasing it to the NTIUG/IIUG sites once its done. If you want a
partially broken copy though (assuming that you were talking about permission
problems, etc, not dbschema), drop me a line.
