Hi Kok-Bin,
You should refer to the Administrator's Guide. But basically it works like
this:
1) To make any changes in the logging status, no users can access the
database.
2) Changing from "No logging" to any type of logging needs a Level-0 archive
before the database can be used again. If you use onarchive, the database
must be online. If you use ontape, the database may be online or quiescent.
For the needed parameters of onarchive/ontape to change the status refer to
the Administrator's Guide.
3) changing from buffered or unbuffered logging to another logging state
takes place immediately.
4) you cannot change logging mode from ANSI compliant to another status.
Note: if you want to toggle between buffered and unbuffered logging this may
also be done by SQL (SET LOG). This lasts for the duration of the session.
