Jonathan Thankyou for your help regarding this subject. I think we might have an underlying disk problem. I reloaded the table concerned and tried querying again. The performance was extremely bad considering there were only 2500 rows in the table and I was just doing a select * from this table - no joins. When I say bad, I mean it took severalminutes to return anything. The Informix chunk we are using is placed on a HP Logical Volume - I am becoming more suspicious of this every day. I am trying to get support for the advice I have given to my employers, that is - to take Informix away from the Logical Volumes and have seperate disks for rootdbs, logs and two data dbspaces.
