Rows limit, SE 5.01

Is there such a thing as too many rows in SE. I still have plenty of disk space, but the table has reached 1 million + rows (not very wide though - say 70 to 80 bytes). Index rebuilds don't work and the damn thing is just getting too unwieldy. Yep, I searched the FM, and found the indexed term "rows" but no info pertaining to a physical limit.
