IDS 7.30.uc7
We currently run level 0 ontape backups during the weekend and level 1
backups during the week. I'd like to be able to do some maintenance on
the system during the week, off-hours, of course. I have a dbspace that
contains only detached indices. Before I recreate these indices, I'd
like to consolidate the chunks holding the dbspace. For example, here's
the current layout, courtesy of onstat -d :
d625e898 13 12 0 750000 277 PO-
/dev/rawspace10
d62909b0 47 12 750000 125000 62324 PO-
/dev/rawspace10
d6290b70 49 12 875000 125000 124997 PO-
/dev/rawspace10
Scenario 1: straight consolidation
I'd like to be able to consolidate this dbspace as follows:
???????? 13 12 0 1000000 ?????? PO-
/dev/rawspace10
Scenario 2: space-conserving consolidation
I'd like to be able to consolidate this dbspace as follows:
???????? 13 12 0 900000 ?????? PO-
/dev/rawspace10
I would like to consolidate the spaces and rebuild the indices after a
level 1. In the event of a restore, could I use a level 0 before the
consolidation and a level 1 after the consolidation to get me back where
I need to be??
Also, how would allocating the unused space (scenario 2) affect a
restore? Might as well ask it now . . . .
Thanks in advance . . .
